introduction to photography class series! Begin in Part 1 by starting to
learn the fundamentals of photography so you can understand how to
create your own amazing photography! Great refresher course for those
with some experience and also great for total beginners.
Learn an overview of camera and lens types and then find out how important the exposure triangle can be in balancing the lights and darks in your photos! We review common shooting mistakes with focus blur and dark photos via the shooting menu available for quick viewing on your camera’s back LCD.
We walk through basic camera settings discussing shutter speed, aperture, ISO and review the importance of lens filters and how different types have different uses that can enhance your photo color, image quality, and/or assist you with creative technique. You will also learn a brief overview of what you can expect from the primary “mode-dial” options Auto, Manual, TV, AV, Program and Bulb on your digital camera so you can use it to your advantage and start taking better pictures!
Continue to learn the fundamentals of photography in Intro to Digital Photography Part 2 so you can understand how to get great images whether indoors or outdoors. Learn how important metering can be along with focus settings, suggestions for appealing composition, what white balance can do for you, how to use high dynamic range (HDR), and much more. We will go further into understanding and using the Manual setting on the mode dial
Come out and learn how to take great portraits of anyone you’d like to photograph in this evening workshop!
Whether friends or walking around doing street photography, come learn the fundamentals of what’s required to get great photographs. We’ll discuss use of natural versus artificial lighting for your portraits, composition for a classic portrait versus an environmental style portrait and how you can achieve great exposures in your skin tones while also developing your personal style with your photography work.
Expect to learn about natural light, using your on-camera flash (built-in OR a flash accessory) and how you can easily use a ringlight for your portraits! You'll have an opportunity to watch demonstration, take your own photos and get guidance from you passionate and experienced instructors, Berky and Theresa.
Come out to support your local community of artists - from hobbyist to professional who made it as finalists in our photo contest. Printed, framed and labeled images will be on view in our event space and, like all of our events, this event is open to the public. Photography contest winners announced during the gallery night itself! Awards for 1st, 2nd, 3rd Place and Honorable Mentions will be provided to contest participants. No membership is required to participate in the contest or for attendance the night of the gallery opening reception. Wine and cheese will be served so RSVP is appreciated.
